Gareth - Bass
Guitar
(and band "Grandaddy")

It's November 2003 and I receive the call-up
to the band with the message:
"Just get yourself a book on how
to play. There's only four f****** strings, how hard can it be?"
Unfortunately I can't find a book I'm able
to understand. Then, during a trip to Amsterdam, I stumble across a very
informative pamphlet on "baysh" . From that point on
I'll never look back. Gone are the days I believed bassists were like
goalkeepers; doing the dirty job no other player wanted. Now in 2008,
I see my role in Racket as that of a "midfield playmaker" come
rush-goalie come headless chicken. This leaves me free to get into the
opposition box at will. True, we concede plenty of goals, but we
can usually rely on our star players to score at least one more than I
let in. And if not? Well, it's only a game innit?
